I'll begin in the middle of our story with a funny comment that I made while we were out house hunting. I whispered to my wife: "Kathy's obviously an alien... there's no realtor on earth that's this well prepared," we all had a good laugh. But what was meant as a nice compliment, was really a testament to how Kathy conducts her business affairs. Her level of service is simply out of this world.
Back to the beginning of the story. We recently relocated from the Caribbean to Portland with my wife and three boys. As you can image the logistics of picking up and moving thousands of miles away is a daunting affair; but Kathy and her team made the process incredibly smooth.
Before we even made our first trip to Portland, Kathy worked with us to identify our most important criteria. For us, it was all about the schools, a good family neighborhood and a home that represented a good value. She setup several searches that kept track of our requirements and we shared our feedback on those homes that interested us most.
Over the course of a couple weeks, we narrowed the universe of candidates down to a couple hundred in Lake Oswego and West Linn. It was clear from the outset that Kathy really keeps on top of the market.
In preparation for our house hunting trip to Portland, Kathy's team had setup a private website especially for us... and uploaded additional pictures of over 50 homes that she toured for us. So not only did we get to see the complete MLS listing and photos, we also were able to view the photos and information she gathered for us on our top candidates.
When we arrived in Portland, waiting for us at our hotel was a leather-bound dossier on the properties we were to preview over the next three days. It contained maps, driving directions, neighborhood and school info, color photos, listing info, and on and on.
Because of all the time and effort Kathy invested ahead of our trip, we were able to preview over 40 homes in just two days. Amazing! We made an offer before we returned to P.R. and negotiated a fantastic deal on a home in West Linn.
